Guitar lessons built around the player in front of me

There is no single guitar course that suits everybody. Some students are starting from the beginning. Others can already play but have reached the point where practising more is not solving the problem. My job is to work out what you need next and give you a clear way to work on it.

These are private, one-to-one guitar lessons in Dublin. I keep the lessons structured, but I do not force every student through the same material. Your level, your goals and the music you actually want to play all matter.

What we can work on

The exact lesson plan changes from student to student, but the goal is always the same: make your playing better in a way you can hear and feel.

  • Chords, rhythm and confident song playing
  • Technique, timing and cleaner control
  • Lead guitar, phrasing and improvisation
  • Fretboard knowledge that is useful when you actually play
  • Music theory explained through the guitar rather than as a separate subject
  • A practice plan that tells you what to work on and why

Lessons for beginners and more experienced players

If you are completely new to guitar, the beginner guitar lessons in Dublin page explains how I build the foundations without overwhelming you. If you are an adult starting later in life or coming back after years away, my guitar lessons for adults in Dublin are built around that situation.

I also teach students who already have experience and need help with specific weaknesses, whether that is timing, technique, improvisation or simply knowing what they should practise next.

Acoustic or electric guitar

The fundamentals overlap, but the way you use the instrument can be very different. If your main interest is acoustic playing, see my acoustic guitar lessons in Dublin. If you want to focus on electric guitar, lead playing, technique or a more amplified style of playing, see my electric guitar lessons in Dublin.

Private, face-to-face lessons in Dublin

I teach in person in Dublin 1 / North Wall. I do not offer online lessons. Being in the room together means I can see the small details in your technique, hear what is actually happening and correct things before they become habits.

A clear plan beats more random information

Most players do not need another hundred exercises. They need to know which few things are worth working on now. I want you to leave a lesson knowing what to practise, how to practise it and what improvement should sound like.

I have been teaching guitar for more than 20 years. The approach has changed and improved over that time, but one thing has stayed the same: lessons should help you make real progress, not just give you more material.

What I expect from you

You do not need to be naturally gifted. You do need to be willing to practise consistently and give the plan a fair chance. If you do the work, I will make sure the lessons stay focused on moving your playing forward.
